LMS gradebook reconciliation without the Sunday scramble

How to compare your offline grade record to Canvas, PowerSchool, or Infinite Campus, fix drift early, and close the term with fewer surprises.

Why scores drift

LMS gradebooks drift for boring, fixable reasons: a score entered on the wrong assignment, a missing excused flag, a rounding rule you forgot the tool applied, or a quick fix on mobile that never made it back to your paper notes.

A lightweight checklist

  1. Export or print the LMS view for the assignment or category you care about this week.
  2. Lay it beside your digitized sheet (or original paper) sorted the same way.
  3. Mark deltas as “LMS wrong” or “local wrong” so you are not guessing later.
  4. Fix in one direction—usually from your class record into the LMS for operational clarity.

Pairing with Sync

If your school allows it, Grade Lens Sync reduces the manual bridge between a clean local grid and the LMS. You still own policy: categories, weights, and what counts for the grade are institutional choices the software does not replace.

Privacy and records

Student data always deserves a light touch. When you are unsure whether a workflow is allowed, start with your admin’s guidance and our FERPA policy for how Grade Lens thinks about educational records.
